The Serendipitous Leader

About Me

Wondering who I am and why I started this?

Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. Like many of you, I was not a leader by trade but found myself taking on an opportunity to become a manager. That opportunity eventually allowed me to become a leader. For those wondering, they are not the same (check out some of my posts to learn why). The reason for the name of this site is because most people don't choose to be a leader but in my case, I found it to be very seredipitous. For those not familiar, seredipitous means occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way. For me, that is how I feel about my becoming a leader. I venture that most great leaders likely feel the same.
I arrived at being a manager due to a major shift in an organization I had just joined. I was a software developer by trade and had thoughts before of becoming a manager but had never interviewed for the part. I was still working on my MBA at the time and had just moved companies to find some sanity in work/life balance. Becoming a manager certainly didn't make me a leader but did set the wheels in motion for becoming one. Since that fortunate occurance, I have grown a lot as a leader and had many learnings and set backs along the way. My hope is that I can share a little bit of that knowledge with you to help you grow as a leader as well.
